THE SERVANTS OF IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY.

SERVI CORDIS IMMACULATI MARIAE.

(S.C.I.M BROTHERS)

The matron of the congregation of SCIM brothers is IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY.

The congregation of SCIM was placed under her protection, so that the monks strive to follow her in purity of her heart and learn to imitate her virtues every day, especially humility, love and zeal for the salvation of people’s souls. The Scim brothers congregation will celebrate in a special way the feast of the immaculate Heart of the virgin Mary who is its chief administrator.

The Scim Congregation also relies on the protection of saint  Joseph , husband of the virgin Mary, mother of God, St. Martin de Porres,  who is an example of a devout monk, a lover of poor and a devoted worshiper of Jesus the Eucharist; and Saint Karlo Lwanga martyr, who is an example of teaching religion and encouraging others to persevere in faith and service to God.

MORE ABOUT IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Roman Catholic Church refers to Mary’s inner life-her thoughts, intentions, love, and total devotion to God. In biblical language, the “heart” represents the center of a person’s being. Calling Mary’s heart “immaculate” emphasizes that, by God’s grace, she was preserved from original sin and lived in perfect openness to God’s will. Her heart is seen as pure, faithful, and completely oriented toward God.

This devotion is rooted in Scripture, even though the exact phrase does not appear in the Bible. The Gospel of Luke describes Mary as one who “kept all these things and pondered them in her heart,” showing her deep faith and reflection on God’s actions. Simeon’s prophecy that a sword would pierce her soul points to the suffering of her heart as she shared in the sorrow of her Son’s passion. These passages reveal a heart both loving and suffering in union with God’s plan.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary is closely united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. While Jesus’ Heart represents God’s divine love made visible in Christ, Mary’s Heart represents the perfect human response to that love. Catholic teaching emphasizes that devotion to Mary never replaces devotion to Christ but leads believers more deeply to Him, since Mary always points toward her Son.

In the life of the Church, devotion to the Immaculate Heart grew over time and was strongly encouraged in modern times, especially after the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima in 1917. Through this devotion, Catholics are invited to conversion, prayer, repentance, and trust in God’s mercy. Practices such as consecration to Mary’s Immaculate Heart are meant to help believers shape their lives according to her faith and obedience.

Overall, the Immaculate Heart of Mary is honored as a model for Christians. It represents a heart that listens to God, accepts suffering with faith, and loves without reserve. By honoring Mary’s heart, Catholics seek to learn how to love God more sincerely and to follow Christ more faithfully in their daily lives.

THE FOUNDER OF SCIM BROTHERS

The founder of SCIM BROTHERS is Late Bishop ATTILIO BELTRAMINO. The first bishop of Iring diocese.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE LIFE OF BISHOP ATTILIOBELTRAMINO

Bishop Attilio Beltramino was born on 19/03/1901 in the village of Volvera in Italy, his father’s name was Natale Beltramino and his mother’s name was Adelaide Elia. He was baptized on 23/03/1901, he received confirmation and first Holy Communion on 01/05/1910.

When Attilio Beltramino was studying in primary school he was humble and gentle and even his peers were surprised by his gentleness; when he was finishing primary school he hinted to his fellow students as he explains his fellow student “Michele Musso” told them that he would like to be a priest in his life. In this intention, on September 3, 1911, he was clothed in the official seminary robes by Pastor Don Sebastiano Capello in the Church of Volvera, and on October 10, 1916, he joined the main seminary in the Archdiocese of Chieri for philosophy studies. Attilio Beltramino, in addition to joining seminary studies for a vocation to the priesthood, also had a vocation to be a monk and become a missionary, so on 25/02/1919 Attilio Beltramino joined the missionary organization of the monasticism of priests and brothers in the CONSOLATA MISSIONARIES congrigation, and was dressed in official monastic clothing by the founder of that congrigation Father Yoseph Allamano (now is saint Yoseph Allamano).

On 2/10/1920 Attilio Beltramino made his first vows in the organization of the Virgin Maria Consolata and at that time he was continuing his Theological studies for the Priesthood in Torino. From 1921-1923, Attilio Beltramino was a teacher of his fellow students in the small seminary of Saint Paul. Date 05/04/1924 Attilio Beltramino  was given the sacred rank of Priest by His Highness Bishop Costanzo Castrale.

In December 1924, Father Attilio Beltramino was sent to Kenya to do missionary work and there he was placed mainly in the centers of his congregation in the areas of Manira and Tinderati. On 20/6/1928 while in Kenya, Father Attilio Beltramino made his perpetual vows in the hands of his guardian Giacomo Campagnola. Father Attilio Beltramino did his missionary work in Kenya for 12 years.

The congregation with the first four aspirants who made their first vows on 06/01/1952 during the feast of the Epiphany are;

  1. Bro. Timothy Mponzi
  2. Bro. Gabriel Mbinda
  3. Bro. Patrick Mwogofi
  4. Bro. Titus Mhume

These four monks were placed under the guardian Father Francesco Ghioti, and placed with the seminarians in the pre-seminary of Tosamaganga for formation. In October 1952, this founder of the SCIM officially blessed the Tosamaganga monastery which he officially established as the original monastery. Bishop Attlio Beltramino told the monks that together with the activities of monastic formation and teaching Religion, the monks should also learn various technical jobs to strengthen their vocation and mission.

This is a pilgrimage church located inside the SCIM Tosamganga Monastery. Church of the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin Mary. SCIM monks always pray here in order to reconcile with God.
